Thor Dishwasher and Microwave Guide: Every Model Compared

A Thor dishwasher and a Thor microwave are the two appliances that finish a Thor kitchen, and both come in more versions than most shoppers expect. We carry three families of 24-inch Thor dishwashers and nine Thor microwave models, from under-counter microwave drawers to built-in air fry microwave ovens, over-the-range units and a microwave and wall oven combination. Which Thor Dishwasher Fits Your Kitchen?

For an open-plan kitchen where noise matters most, the HDW2401SS is the quietest Thor dishwasher at 45 dBA, and its Smart Wash system reads how dirty the load is and adjusts the normal cycle to match. For the driest dishes and the most organized racks, the TDW24C7 series adds Open Dry, which boosts air circulation for more even drying, plus a third-layer cutlery rack for utensils and knives. Thor rates the black and white versions for 15 place settings with three spray arms and a height-adjustable upper basket, and estimates the series at 240 kWh of energy per year. For a flat, handle-free front, the TDW24PT and TDW24PTB use a pocket handle and top controls, hold 14 place settings and are rated at 220 kWh per year.

Matching finishes. The black TDW24C7B and TDW24PTB and the white TDW24C7W are the way to match a black or white Thor range, such as the matte black and white A Series ranges. Our Thor Kitchen range series comparison shows which ranges come in each color.

Check the cutout. All three families fit a standard 24-inch opening. The TDW24C7 and TDW24PT families call for 23-7/8 to 24 inches wide, 22-7/8 to 23-5/8 inches deep and 34 to 35-1/2 inches high. The HDW2401SS calls for 24 inches wide, 24-5/8 inches deep and 34 to 35 inches high.

Thor Microwave Drawers: TMD2401, TMD3001 and TMD3002

A microwave drawer installs below the counter, in an island, a peninsula or under a wall oven, so the countertop stays clear and you lift dishes in from above instead of reaching up. All three Thor drawers hold 1.2 cu. ft. and open and close at the touch of a button. The TMD2401 fits 24-inch cabinetry and offers 12 food functions, including two popcorn settings, melting chocolate, softening ice cream and defrost, plus a Keep Warm mode. The TMD3001 is the 30-inch version with 12 sensor functions and Keep Warm for up to 30 minutes; Thor's FMK30D1 flush mount kit is sold separately for a flush install. The TMD3002 steps up to 1,000 watts with a mirror-finish door, sensor reheat that manages temperature and moisture, and an express mode that starts a 30-second cycle with one press; a tap of the hip closes the drawer when your hands are full.

Thor lists a cutout of 22-1/8 inches wide, 14-13/16 inches high and 23-1/2 inches deep for the TMD2401, and 28-7/16 by 15-9/16 by 23-1/2 inches for the TMD3001. Check the installation guide for the TMD3002 before the cabinet is built.

Thor Built-In Microwave Ovens: TMO24, TMO24H and TMO30H

The TMO models install in a wall cabinet or above a wall oven and do far more than reheat. The TMO24 is a 24-inch speed oven with 1,000 watts, ten power levels, a convection fan and broil and bake elements on a 14.1-inch turntable. The TMO24H and TMO30H are built-in microwave ovens with a drop-down door that add air frying, true convection, broiling and sensor cooking, with a control panel lock and Sabbath mode. On the TMO24H, Thor lists 950 watts of microwave power with a 1,700W convection element, a 1,700W broil element and a 600W bake element. The TMO24H and TMO30H call for a 20A, 120V circuit, and the TMO24H uses a 20A (NEMA 5-20P) plug, so check the receptacle in the cabinet before installation.

For a single unit that handles both jobs, the TMW30ED stacks a 1.9 cu. ft. microwave speed oven above a 4.8 cu. ft. wall oven in one 30-inch cabinet opening, with air fry and true convection, telescopic glide racks, halogen lighting and self-clean. Thor Over-the-Range Microwaves: TOR24SS and TOR30L

An over-the-range microwave saves both counter and cabinet space by doubling as the vent above the cooktop. The TOR24SS fits a 24-inch space with 1.4 cu. ft., 1,000 watts, 11 power levels and a 300 CFM two-speed vent that can exhaust through the top or back or recirculate through the included charcoal filter. The TOR30L is a low-profile 30-inch model with 1.2 cu. ft., 1,000 watts and a 400 CFM vent, with a charcoal filter set included.

Over a high-output pro-style gas range, a dedicated range hood moves far more air: a Thor under-cabinet hood such as the TUCH3618 is rated at 600 CFM, versus 300 to 400 CFM for these microwave vents. Which Thor Microwave Should You Choose?

Island or open kitchen: a TMD drawer keeps the microwave out of sight and at a safe height. Cabinet or wall oven stack: the TMO24H or TMO30H adds air fry and convection, effectively a second small oven. One opening for two ovens: the TMW30ED combination.
