SOK self-heating LiFePO4 batteries solve LiFePO4's only real weakness: standard lithium chemistry won't accept a charge below 32°F (0°C). SOK's heated models include built-in low-temp heating pads that auto-engage when cell temperature drops, drawing minimal current to bring cells into the safe charge window. That makes them the only LiFePO4 worth installing in unheated RVs, ski-country cabins, winter overland builds, and any system that sees sub-freezing temperatures.
Winter RV / snowbird operators heading north or skiing, off-grid cabin owners in cold climates, overlanders and expedition vehicles, ice fishing house operators, anyone whose battery bank lives in an unheated compartment.
Without self-heating, LiFePO4 batteries below freezing simply refuse to accept charge — your solar panels and alternator deliver current to nowhere. The result is a dead bank by morning even in mild winter conditions. SOK's heated models eliminate that failure mode entirely.
How much does the heater draw?
Approximately 50W during active heat cycles. The heater only runs when needed, typically for a few minutes at a time. Negligible impact on usable capacity.
Will the heater run my battery down if I'm parked for the winter?
If unplugged in deep cold, yes — eventually. SOK recommends solar trickle charging or shore-power maintenance for long-term winter storage. The heater runs while charging, not when idle.
Can I retrofit a heater onto a non-heated SOK battery?
No — the heater pads are factory-installed inside the case. If you need cold-weather capability, buy the H or PH model directly.
