Electri-Chef Emerald vs Ruby vs Diamond: Which Electric Grill Size Is Right for You?

Electri-Chef builds its flameless outdoor electric grills in three sizes: the 24" Emerald, the 32" Ruby and the 48" Diamond. Comparing Electri-Chef Emerald vs Ruby vs Diamond comes down to three things: how much grilling area you need, how many temperature controls you want, and how big a circuit you can run to the grill. All three share the same core build, so the decision is about size and power, not quality.

What Every Electri-Chef Grill Has in Common

Whatever the size, each model has 18-gauge stainless steel construction, digital temperature control from 150°F to 600°F, a built-in timer with automatic shut-off, stay-cool handles, stainless steel cooking grids and easy-clean drip trays. Every grill arrives fully assembled, is made in the USA and is built to order.

Emerald 24": The Compact Electri-Chef Grill

Electri-Chef describes the Emerald as delivering high-performance flameless grilling in a relatively small space, with approximately the same grilling area as typical gas and charcoal grills. It runs on the smallest circuit in the line (20 A), which makes it the easiest to power on a balcony or small patio. It comes in the most styles: closed-base, pedestal-base, built-in, JA/CT, tabletop and marine.

Ruby 32": More Room and a Dual-Control Option

The Ruby adds a third more grilling area than the Emerald (448 vs 336 sq. in.) and is the only size offered with either single or dual controls. Electri-Chef pitches it at people who like to entertain. Good starting points are the Ruby 32" dual built-in for outdoor kitchens and the Ruby 32" dual closed-base for patios. It needs a 30 A circuit.

Diamond 48": The Largest Electri-Chef Grill

The Diamond more than doubles the Ruby's cooking surface at 1,056 sq. in. and comes with dual digital controls as standard. It needs the largest circuit in the line (40 A), so confirm your panel capacity first. Choose from the closed-base, built-in, tabletop or marine versions.

Which Electri-Chef Size Should You Choose?

Choose the Emerald if space or electrical capacity is tight. Choose the Ruby if you want more room, or two temperature controls, without moving up to a 40 A circuit. Choose the Diamond if you regularly cook for a crowd and can run a 40 A circuit. Then pick a mounting style; our condo balcony electric grill guide matches styles to spaces.
